At
Rochambeau Middle School, a group of over 20 students participated in an
after school activity called Math Counts. Students attended on a voluntary
basis to spend an hour a week problem-solving challenging yet real life
examples in a fun environment. After several weeks, the students
participated in a school competition. The top 8 students were selected to
join their Math Leader, Mrs. Keene, at the Chapter Competition to compete
with 69 other students from surrounding schools. The RMS 6th,
7th and 8th graders did a great job at the competition! There was a
‘jeopardy-type round’ in which the top 16 of the 69 students faced off to
determine the winner. Three RMS students, Justin, Lucy & Stephanie, took
part in this round, and Stephanie won a trophy for winning over the other 15
students! Lucy and Stephanie will advance to compete at the state level on
Saturday, March 13th. Good luck! (Look for a similar article in the Voices)
